PAM Building relies on future-proof PIM system with Centric PXM

A new PIM system in record time with Centric PXM

PAM Building is an international manufacturer of high-quality cast iron pipe systems and solutions for building drainage. The company stands for robust, durable products, high technical expertise, and reliable solutions for demanding construction and infrastructure projects. After spinning off from its previous corporate group, PAM Building made a fresh start as an independent organization—including its own complete system landscape.

To build a functioning setup consisting of ERP, PIM, and other systems in just a few months, a tightly scheduled but structured large-scale project was launched jointly. Our part: the introduction of a PIM system based on Centric PXM.

Kickoff under time pressure – and with a clear structure

Even before the official project launch, there were intensive technical consultations between PAM Building and our sales and consulting team. This early clarification of all relevant details was crucial in order to realistically adhere to the tight schedule. The official kick-off then took place in June 2025 – based on a clear structure and a reliable cost and expenditure estimate, which reliably avoided any surprises later on.

With fixed weekly meetings and a steering committee, we closely monitored the project: clear responsibilities, full transparency, and quick decisions. PAM Building acted with enormous flexibility and was open to rethinking processes – a decisive factor in the speed of the project.

Phase 1: Data model – the basis for a clean PIM system

Most attributes, classes, and value lists were carried over from the old PIM. A clean and well structured product hierarchy was especially important. The existing levels – ProductFamily, Product, Article, RawProduct, Internal Coating, External Coating – were adopted meaningfully and mapped cleanly using suitable attribute types.

Phase 2: Data migration – parallel, fast, reliable

Due to the tight schedule, early coordination on data migration was crucial so that other workstreams could progress in parallel. PAM Building contributed valuable technical expertise from two previous PIM implementations – a huge advantage. The team delivered all required content quickly and reliably, allowing us to complete the migration without delays.

Phase 3: Website integration

The website integration was handled by an external web service provider via the standard Centric PXM REST API. Ideal for us: we could provide guidance while the provider continued their work in parallel.

Phase 4: Automated data sheets efficiently delivered via the PIM system

Data sheets play an important role for PAM Building – and they needed to continue to be generated automatically via the PIM system. We received sample data sheets very early in the project, helping us understand complexities and develop suitable solution approaches right from the start.

Challenges are part of the process

Naturally, there were a few hurdles. Due to system specific formatting in the legacy PIM, some adjustments were required when importing data into Centric PXM, and duplicate image files with identical names had to be cleaned up. Thanks to close collaboration and pragmatic solutions, we resolved these issues quickly – without slowing down the overall project flow.

Conclusion

In just over six months, PAM Building built an entirely new IT and PIM structure – an exceptionally fast and successful project outcome. The combination of clear organization, high flexibility, and strong technical understanding made this sprint possible in the first place. With the official go live in late November 2025, PAM Building now operates on a high performance, well structured, and future proof PIM system that perfectly fits the needs of the newly established organization.
